Jones Real Estate predominantly collects and uses Personal Information from our clients, users or visitors to our websites, and recipients of direct marketing materials. We may collect Personal Information from other people, entities, and sources from time to time.

The type of personal information that we collect and use generally depends on the type of dealings that you have with us and can include:

1.3. What Personal Information don’t we collect?
We do not deliberately collect Sensitive Information as defined under the Act without your express permission and consent. Sensitive Information is a subset of Personal Information under the Act, and includes:
- information or an opinion about an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions;, membership of a political association, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association, sexual preferences or practices; or criminal record;
- health information about an individual;
- genetic information about an individual that is not otherwise health information;
- biometric information that is to be used for the purpose of automated biometric verification or biometric identification, and biometric templates.
If we accidentally collect Sensitive Information from you we will inform you as soon as practicable, and take all reasonable steps to delete this information from our databases.
If for any reason we require Sensitive Information from you for the purpose of providing our service, we will seek your express consent to do obtain and use the Sensitive Information, and only use it for the purpose disclosed to you.
2. Security and Storage of Personal Information
2.1. What do we do to protect your Personal Information?
Jones Real Estate will take reasonable steps to protect our Personal Information received by us from any loss or theft, as well as from unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification, regardless of the format in which it is held. We will keep client personal data for as long as required, both as legally required and for the applicable purpose it is being used for.
Jones Real Estate has implemented policies and procedures to safeguard the secure storage and processing of data. We have verified, and regularly verify, the security arrangements of its outsourced data providers.
When you provide us with your Personal Information you give us your consent to store your Personal Information outside of Australia for the purposes described above.
2.2. How do we store your Personal Information?
The Personal Information we hold will be stored electronically in secure data centres located in Australia. We may transfer data outside of Australia to our service providers in order to obtain secure storage, back-up, and data retrieval services and to provide services.
We review the information we hold in these centres regularly and take reasonable steps to protect Personal Information from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We will securely destroy or de-identify the Personal Information we hold once the information is no longer needed for any purpose for which the information may be used or disclosed under the Act.

Once a request for access to Personal Information is received, we will require proof of identity. For most requests, the information will be provided free of charge, however a reasonable fee may be charged if your request requires a substantial effort on our part.
While we make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party attacks from illegally obtaining this information.
By using our website you acknowledge that the internet is inherently insecure and we can only use our best endeavours to secure your personal information.
To the extent permitted by law we are not liable to you for any Loss suffered as a result of a third party attack, or leak of your Personal Information from our databases. 6.1. What’s a cookie?
We and/or our contractors may use third-party analytics providers to collect data about your interaction with our websites. This data is hosted by a third party. The sole purpose of collecting this data is to improve your experience when using our websites: it does not contain personal or identifiable details.
These technologies are consistent across our digital services, allowing us and the other providers of these services to understand you better and provide a more consistent experience across these services. 7.1. What do we use your Personal Information for and what do you agree to?
You acknowledge that we may maintain your Personal Information in our databases, and that these databases may be used for ongoing marketing and sales-related purposes, or to advise you of the other services that we can offer.
We may send you direct marketing communications and information about offerings and services that we consider may be of interest to you as part of our marketing campaigns.

EDM stands for electronic direct marketing. We use EDM to help connect with our clients, and other people we deal with.
We use an EDM platform called ActivePipe. If you subscribe to our newsletter any information you provide when subscribe, except Sensitive Information, will we collected by ActivePipe and used in our email marketing.
7.3. Can you opt out of marketing?
You will be given the option to opt-out of any such future approaches and to remove your personal details from our database. You can do this at any time by using the unsubscribe option in emails from us, or by contacting us on the contact details below. There is no fee for doing this.

8.1. Can your information be used on social media?
We participate in social media such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and our website blog (Social Media). If we think it is relevant to the quality of service that we provide, we may record the essence of any topic discussed by a particular individual and their name and may contact them. We will not provide personal or identifiable details to any social media outlet without your consent.
Third party Social Media providers (Social Media Providers), also handle your Personal Information for their own purposes. These sites have their own privacy policies.
While we will only provide Personal Information to Social Media Providers we cannot guarantee that your Personal Information will be kept by these Social Media Providers to same high standards that we exercise for safeguarding your information.
